Board Of Directors

The Board of Directors meets monthly to review operations of the band and makes decisions based largely upon committee recommendations. The board members serve as chairs on the several standing committees. Board meetings are open to all members. They are held on the second Tuesday of each month, 7:00pm, the site will be posted on the Website.

 

Committee Descriptions

Chaperone Committee
- Identifies and recruits qualified chaperones for supervision
- Oversees proper training of chaperones
- Schedules chaperones for all summer and winter events and activities requiring supervision

Corporate Sponsorship Committee
- Works to identify and secure corporate level sponsorships
- Oversee activities relating to corporate sponsorships

Community Fundraising Committee
- Plans fundraisers for students and parents allowing them opportunities to raise funds to cover their assessment fees.

Equipment (and Uniform) Committee
- Oversees fitting of uniforms for band proper & drumline
- Works with directors to design and fit guard costumes
- Maintains a band inventory of all equipment
- Works with directors to develop long-range equipment budgets and purchases

Executive Committee
- President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, Assessment Chair and Head Director
- Meet regularly between board meetings to discuss issues relating to the band
- Meetings are open

Membership Committee
- Develops creative approaches to recruitment of members
- Organizes the Recruitment Fair
- Maintains the band rosters
- Designs, implements and evaluate survey materials
- Develops and implements plans for an alumni organization

Newsletter Committee
- Edits and distributes the monthly newsletter to all member families

Organization Committee
- Reviews the By-laws, the official handbook, and other related materials
- Organizes the nominating committee for the election of the board of directors
- Organizes a calling tree to get information out on short notice
- Appoints a historian to keep materials for a scrap book of band activities

Resale Committee
- Approves items for sale that promote the organization
- Takes and delivers orders of approved items (hats, jackets, t-shirts, etc)

Social Committee
- Works with students and parents to plan social events for students
- Plans a family social event for all members during the season
- Plans the year-end-banquet for both winter programs and the summer program

Spat Camp Committee
- Works with the directors to develop a schedule for the week-long camp
- Organizes chaperones for the camp
- Plans menus, works with donated food and purchases other food needed
- Oversees camp facility setup and cleanup

Trip Committee
- Works with aspects relating to the summer tour or trip
- Helps to determine destination with input from members and directors
- Researches, confirms and schedules trip activities

Winter Drumline & Winter Color Guard (two separate committees)
- Works with either winter drumline or color guard director to set schedules
- Schedules appropriate times and locations for rehearsals
- Schedules transportation as needed for performances
